Heavy Plasma Incoming!

Howdy,

Ive had a bit of time to complete the Heavy Plasma Fang. So I'm showing him off in all his glory! I quite enjoy creating the 'plasma' part and also the contrast with the cables that lead from the cannon itself to the backpack.

This is heavy!

I always find myself thinking that the painting doesn't look OK right up until the last moment, but I'm quite pleased with this guy and think he looks good in the line up with the rest of his Fang mates.

360 degrees of hot plasma

Throughout the course of the last 3 months I've read and looked at a number of different styles of painting from the almost cartoonish to the grim and dark. Ive also been interested to see how other painters and bloggers go about their painting/collecting. I have seen lots of things that I like and want to try. In the background I have been stalking a popular auction site and acquiring a few goodies here and there. These goodies (and the collection sitting to be painted) offer me the prime opportunity so I'm excited to be beginning to try new things.

I have also looked at some feedback on the blog and am contemplating some changes, hopefully for the better, these should be visible in the next few weeks.

Anyway enough of the random musings and back to the Plasma Fang.

Here he is lined up with some of his Wolf Brothers!

Covering Fire!

Howdy, this week has flown over and the hobby hasn't seen much love. I have completed this guy, ready to lay down some covering fire and blow something up!
Ive tried to make the pose fairly dynamic and used various bits from the battle box set and the devastator box to make him 'wolf' enough.

Take aim!
The now compulsory composure shot shows off the Long Fang in all his glory. I particularly like the right shoulderpad showing off the pack marking.

Looking for a target!

Im feeling like I've settled into a painting style and hopefully showing some signs of improvement. Ive made some progress with the Great Wolf so I should be able to show him off next week.

Till next time.

Flame On!

Howdy,

The pack of Long Fangs is growing! Next up is a 'Fang' with a Multi melter. This guy has been finished off with the same edge highlighting as the previous guys. The only tricky part was the head which I'm still not convinced at my skill level with heads.

Its getting hot in here
A composure shot shows off all his best features.
Its a big gun from all angles

More Fangs are on the table ready to be finished off. Im also working on this guy below. Her Indoors took the picture with her camera, I'm wondering if the shot shows off the miniature better than the usual camera phone pictures?

Long Fang Complete

Howdy,

Another update with a completed miniature! This time its one of a band of Long Fangs.
Got you in my sights
I love the massive Las Cannon, its a truly BFG, and the fire and move pose. Even though I'm not a gamer I am still going for some kind of army structure with the Wolves. Hopefully I will have enough for an Army on Parade soon!

Check out my BFG from all angles
This guy has been put together with bits from the Battleforce box set and the Devastator box set, with a little bit of reclaimed slate from a fallen roof tile from the last storm we had here in the UK!

Still another 3 Long Fangs on the WIP pile.

Till next time.

A bit of variety

Howdy, thought I'd better note down an update as its been a couple of weeks since the last post. Since then despite many distractions (see a whole weekend disappear because some bloke in a blue box has a birthday!) I have managed to get some painting done.

First up I managed to complete the marine with the BFG on the right. I had this guy back in the day so after detoling the old paint off him I set about painting him in the Ultramarine colour scheme. I enjoyed giving him a pop of colour with the fuel canister.

Ultramarines in Tardis blue
Next up came the guy on the left, I attached a new head and set about painting him too. I did catch myself wondering how some people complete lots of projects and miniatures really quickly as the whole painting process took over 12 hours. Maybe i'm just slow.

On a completely different colour tangent I decided to have a go at an Imperial Fist scheme.

I've got me a fightin' hand!
This guy was a leftover from the old Space Crusade game and i figured he would be a good test model for the colour scheme. I must admit i found painting yellow to be hard, but the whole point is to try to improve. I have 3 more 'left-over' marines from the game so I think they will be yellow too.

On the blue team
I thought i'd finish off with a group shot of the Ultramarines, I have based them on snow to make the blue really stand out.

Im off to read my first comment, i did get ridiculously excited…...
