More Wolves

Howdy,

It's been a bit slow going with blogging lately but that doesn't mean to say I haven't been getting some hobby hours in here and there.

With the release of the new Wolf models I've headed back to some of my old favourites and decided to paint what I have Wolf wise before spending some hard earned cash on some more of the little plastic buggers.

Melts in your mouth not in your hand!

This is the latest Grey Hunter I have finished off. Pretty standard paint out, putting a bit of emphasis on the muzzle of his Multi Melta. I'm a fan of keeping the weaponry quite subdued, its a weapon after all it doesn't need loads of bright colours drawing the attention away from the main body of the model.

Highlighted selection of a Hunter
Ive used my now trusty 'composure' picture to show off some of the detail in the model, one of the worst bits about painting this guy was 'losing' my squig orange paint. As i use this in the scheme for highlighting the reds I had to make do with fire dragon bright. When I was painting I noted down the scheme I used. As it had been a while since I had painted any Wolves I wanted to make sure I didn't want to make that mistake again.

Ive also spent some time getting into Instagram and seeing what people are up to using that platform of social media. Ive lost hours just looking at pretty pictures, and some not so pretty ones too.

Here is the kind of thing I'm posting.....

I must also congratulate one of my fellow bloggers Henry at Four go to War! for being included in this months Warhammer Visions Blanchitsu section. Well done Fella!

I've also been trying to take some better photographs of my existing Wolves and thought I'd showcase a couple of the better ones!

I also tried really hard not to use 'Ready for the Hunt' as a post title!

Till next time.

Suns out. Guns out

Hello,

Its been fairly sunny in the UK for the past couple of weeks so thats meant a fairly quiet time on the hobby front for a couple of reasons. Firstly we have been doing other things as a family and secondly its been roasting hot in the little corner of our craft room that I occupy. Our craft room is in the roof of the house so it gets more than a little warm.

I have managed to finish some more Wolves, this time Grey Hunters. Here they are with their guns out! Ive also been trying to use thinner/thinned down paints. I noticed that with the heat they are getting a bit gloopier (possibly a made up word) or to be more technical the viscosity has increased. (Education coming in handy) Ive painted these guys with edge highlights, these are similar to the rest of the Wolf army thats coming along nicely. Im contemplating putting together some group shots soon.

A few more shots of them posing:

In a break from the norm I haven't included a composure faux 360 degree shot, instead just some individual shots of each hunter

Hopefully I'll get some painting done in the evenings over the summer,  I also mentioned a couple of blog posts ago that I'm working on another mad idea. Heres a link to what I've signed up for. The training is going well so far!

Till next time.

Grey Hunter Complete

Howdy,
Another quick update on a finished model. More Grey Hunter love this time. Finished this guy off over the weekend and have popped him into a nice photo composing app to show him off.

A Seasoned Hunter
He is one of the battleforce marines I put together a while ago. I placed the emphasis on highlighting and picking out the details that I'd previously base coated.

Here he is with one of his Wolf Brothers. Her Indoors has taken a liking to him and named him Montgomery (She is a big fan of beards!)

Guns and Swords

Ive got a little production line of wolves waiting to be finished off with details and edge highlights. Im finding that overall the finishing off takes around 2 -3 hours.

Anyway be back soon!

Hunters and Guards

Howdy,

Its been a successful week! Firstly 'Hello' to my new followers.

Ive been ploughing on with 'finishing off' the models that I've already painted, adding more to the detail and edge highlighting them whee they need it. First up I finished off the Wolf Guard Terminator Sergeant. He's from the old school metal box set and now finishes that squad. Most of the back of the model is the wolf pelt that he's carrying!

Bad Wolf
Next I looked at some of the guys I put together from the Space Wolf Battleforce, this was my first purchase when I got back into the hobby. The detail on the models is great it was a total difference from the old school lead i was used to. The guys I assembled were Grey Hunters, the only squad I was missing from the first time around.

Running with the wolves

I enjoyed picking out the detail on the models, al the skulls, teeth, runes and pelts make for a great canvas.

After the Grey Hunters I finished off with an old lead Wolf Guard, I love the pose of this model and hope my paint job has done it justice.

Targeting

Ive still got more guys lined up to work on next week! Till next time.
